This summer, the story of Anne Boleyn is coming to life in a brand new open air musical performed in the grounds of her childhood home, Hever Castle.
Running from 2 to 30 August 2025, Anne Boleyn the Musical explores the young girl who left Kent for the royal courts of Europe and returned a woman destined to change history. Directed by Roxana Silbert with music by Sam Gevers and a book by Rebecca Night, the show offers a fresh take on one of England’s most fascinating figures.
Performed in a specially built 1,800 seat outdoor auditorium, every audience member wears a headset for a unique, intimate sound experience. The castle itself becomes part of the set, with actors entering and exiting through its real historic walls.
Emily Lane stars as Anne Boleyn, alongside Mark Goldthorp as Henry VIII. They lead a large professional cast and a 35 strong community ensemble from across Kent. The show follows Anne’s life, her passionate relationship with the King, and her lasting legacy as a woman who paved the way for the future Queen Elizabeth I.
Before the performance, audiences can enjoy the castle’s beautiful gardens and a range of food and drink options. These include lakeside drinks for premium ticket holders, a high end seasonal dinner in the Astor Wing, or street food and a full bar in the bustling main tent.
This is more than just a night at the theatre. It’s a summer evening out in one of the most beautiful historic settings in the country, with music, drama, and the story of a woman who changed the course of England forever.
