Hamlet Hail to the Thief to make London premiere at the Barbican

Hamlet Hail to the Thief will make its London premiere at the Barbican Theatre from 31 October 2026 until 23 January 2027, following sold out runs with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Factory International.

The production combines Shakespeare’s tragedy with Radiohead’s 2003 album Hail to the Thief, bringing together theatre, live music and movement. Created by Thom Yorke alongside directors Christine Jones and Steven Hoggett, the production reimagines Hamlet through the music of the album, which Yorke has reworked for the stage and is performed live by the company.

Blending theatre, music and movement, the production explores themes of power, corruption, grief and political unrest. The sold out runs in Manchester and Stratford-upon-Avon suggest audiences have been eager to see how these two iconic works come together.

Samuel Blenkin returns in the title role, with Ami Tredrea reprising her performance as Ophelia. Returning cast members also include Paul Hilton, Claudia Harrison, Alby Baldwin, Brandon Grace, Felipe Pacheco, Romaya Weaver and Marienella Phillips.

Following its world premiere at Aviva Studios in Manchester, Hamlet Hail to the Thief transferred to the Royal Shakespeare Company, where it played to sold out audiences. The London run forms part of the Barbican’s autumn and winter theatre season.

Hamlet Hail to the Thief runs at the Barbican Theatre from 31 October 2026 to 23 January 2027. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday 26 June.
