How To Mate: The TED XXX Talk - Edinburgh Fringe 2024 Review

Updated: Oct 24

If you haven’t previously attended a Steve Porters seminar before, like I hadn’t, be

ready to become a fresher again and discover your ultimate fuckboy form. Played by

the absolutely incredibly talented drag king Daisy Doris May; How To Mate – The

TED XXX Talk, is your introduction to the world of Steve Porters, everyone’s

favourite iPod DJ from Guildford. Having managed to scoop himself a girlfriend he has proclaimed himself as OBM (official boyfriend material) and he has a 3 unit lesson for you to get your gnashers into. You will learn to Peacock, Penguin and Pigeon, hit on your

neighbour, snap your fingers for your new friends and who knows, you may become

Steve’s best mate for the evening. With a never ending, catalogue of sexy dances,

sexy music and overall sexiness, Daisy/Steve commands the room. If you’re a girl, guy or

any gender expression, get ready to ditch your date and fall in love with Steve.

Having been to medical school, I have been to many a seminar… but none as

exhilarating, side-splittingly funny and expertly performed as this. Forget the world

outside, and live, laugh and absolute LOL when you see How To Mate. Audience

participation is rewarded, encouraged and you may, like me, even ended up slut dropping on stage. Finally, I made my fringe debut as Steve’s best mate RuneDog.

I truly can’t recommend How To Mate – The TED XXX more than I have attempted to

above. I left the auditorium smiling, elated and having had one of the most fun and

brilliant nights in my theatre career, which in my humble opinion, is top dog comedy.
